The Sounds of Brazil Summer Tee's!

This week’s show:

My Producer's Notes

“Brazil and Stevie Wonder,” you ask?

Yep. In fact, His love of Brazil has influenced many of his best hit songs. I recall reading an interview he once gave several years ago where he rattled off a pretty impressive list; “Isn’t She Lovely”, “You Are The Sunshine Of My Life,” and “I Just Called To Say I Loved You” come to mind. No surprise when you consider Brazil’s almost magical way of weaving emotion into music – and then giving the staying power of decades – even as the ‘hot hand’ of pop trends come and go.

Then there are songs where Wonder has a more direct connection to the Land of Samba and Sun, like his ‘live’ version of ‘Pretty World’ (‘Sa Marina’, written by Antonio Adolfo as a big hit for Sergio Mendes as Brasil 66), ‘Samurai’: his harmonica hit in Brazil with Djavan and ditto for ‘The Real Thing’, when he joined Brasil 77 in the studio for what he calls his favorite version of the song.

Then there’s ‘Bird of Beauty,’ a lesser known gem penned by Wonder, who went the extra mile to include lyrics in Portuguese.

You’ll enjoy them all during the show this week.

So, no doubt about it: Steve Wonder loves Brazil, and that love is reflected back this week on the radio, on our affiliates and online dailly on our streaminng station, too.
