Who is he? Brazilian/American producer, consultant, composer, filmmaker.

Why is he important? When it comes to Brazilian music, he’s New York’s ‘go to’ guy.

 

If you’re a Brazilian music fan, chances are pretty good that you’ve already met Beco – residing in the liner notes and credits of dozens of albums like the soundtrack for ‘Next Stop, Wonderland’, ‘Red Hot+Rio’ and Bebel Gilberto’s ‘Tanto Tempo Remixes’. Lately, he’s received ink of a different sort – the form of glowing reviews for his film with co-producer Guto Barra, ‘Beyond Ipanema: Brazilian Waves in Global Music’ a look at the resurgence of Brazilian music in culture through the last 60 years. Now, he’s taken on a new gig, helping to head up Brazilian World Music Day, with international event design to highlight the important role our favorite music plays in our daily lives.
