Hello,

We’re all set for our mid-week launch for The Sounds of Brazil! with November’s ‘Brazilian Jazzmasters’ theme. We’re placing our musical attention on a different instrument each week: we began with Leo Gandelman’s saxophone, then Ricardo Silveira’s Brazilian guitar. Now, it’s time for Antonio Adolfo to slide behind his grand piano for several of his best songs.

Antonio Adolfo is a true veteran of Brazilian jazz, and I’m sure you’ll enjoy his story. But first, a few announcements:

Hello,
This week, our ‘Brazilian Jazzmasters’ theme moves from the deep, reedy tones of Leo Gandelman’s saxophone to the seven string resonance of Ricardo Silveira’s guitar: Another musical stop for The Sounds of Brazil’s 20th Anniversary year.

Ricardo was one of a handful of new musicians featured on our radio program’s first show when it made its debut on 90.0FM WDCB in 1992 and its nice to look back and realize that he’s provided all of us with a long line of great Brazilian jazz albums to enjoy throughout our years together.

This week, we’ll kick off November’s ‘Brazilian Jazzmasters’ theme for The Sounds of Brazil with a look at saxophonist Leo Gandelman’s music. While his recording have been absent formt he US scene for several years, Leo’s still maintained his role as Brazil’s #1 instrumental performer, one that has matured aright along with his music: jazzier, broader and with a dedicated sense of introspection that’s creating some seriously wonderful sounds.

I’ll have a track or two from his latest album on the show this week. Catch t ...

The Brazilian Side of Stevie Wonder

by Brazil Club - Let The Music Take You There on 10/24/2012 - 02:16 pm

Hi everybody,
October’s theme of ‘The Brazilian side of…’ has been a lot of fun to share with you these past few weeks: Michael Franks, Frank Sinatra, the Beatles… and now the outstanding music of Stevie Wonder to wrap it all up.
“Brazil and Stevie Wonder,” you ask?
Yep. In fact, His love of Brazil has influenced many of his best hit songs. I recall reading an interview he once gave several years ago where he rattled off a pretty impressive list; “Isn’t She Lovely”, “You Are The Sunshine Of My Life,” and “I Just Called To Say I Loved You” come to mind. No surprise when you consider Brazil’s ...

The Brazilian Side of The Beatles

by Brazil Club - Let The Music Take You There on 10/17/2012 - 10:47 am
