It's a Windy City tradition. Taste of Chciago kicked off this morning for the 35th year. The free-admission food festival takes place in Grant Park 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
The 2015 Taste of Chicago will feature over 100 menu items from 60 food trucks, pop-ups and restaurants representing Chicago’s diverse culinary community. Plus chefs, cooking demos, live music and more.

On Thursday, Sabrina Malheiros reached a milestone in her career as a Brazilian singer and songwriter and the daughter of Azymuth's Alex Malheiros took a moment to reflect on her Facebook page.

A statue honoring Brazilian singer-composer Antonio Carlos ‘Tom’ Jobim was unveiled Wednesday (10th) at the Zona Sul beach where it all began for the Bossa Nova beat back in the late 1950’s.

How elemental is music to the Brazilian way of life? Here’s a story: In 1989, W/Brasil (a top ad agency) rolled out a brand new campaign for Rider Sandals and the big star was the music featured in TV spots.
The idea was to showcase Brazilian Pop stars recreating favorite hit songs. The first was with Paralamas do Sucesso doing Jorge Ben’s ‘País Tropical’. In keeping with the largely feminine nature of Brazilian song, the day commemorates the birth of pianist Chiquinha Gonzaga in 1847. She is widely regarded by cultural scholars as the first popular songwriter of Brazil.

October 16th promises to be a special night for Chicago’s Brazilian music fans of Brazil Club. Somehow the stars have aligned to bring us not one, but two top Brazilian performers that night. Rio's Ed Motta will be at Mayne Stage in Rogers Park, and The Talisman Project with Latin Percussionist Sammy Figueria and Brazil's Glaucia Nasser will be on satge at City Winery.
