With closing night for the 29th Chicago Latino Film Festival mere hours away, Brazil's place on the busy schedule of showings has once again saved the best for last: The Office of The Consulate General of Brazil in Chicago will sponsor the Festival's closing night gala tonight - Wednesday April 24th.
This year, nearly a dozen Brazilian films have anchored a busy week of movie-going, with five feature films, including A Long Journey (Uma Longa Viagem); the comedic Did You Score? (E Ai, Comeu?); Soul Bound (Teus Olhos Meus); Super Nothing (Super Nada) and Man From the Future (O Homem Do Futuro).

The Chicago Bulls have a "court date" in Rio de Janeiro, but not the kind you think. They’ll be making NBA history this fall when they bring their best game to the land of Samba and Sun for the very first NBA game in Brazil.
Basketball - or Basquete (bass-KET- chee) –  is a popular sport in Brazil, and the country has a long history of showing well in the summer Olympic games. In recent years, several Brazilian players have made it to the NBA, including Leandro Barbosa who was profiled last month at BrazilClubUSA.com.

Bebel Gilberto's six-city mini tour is set to capture spotlights (and ears) very soon - and in the case of two cities, it'll mark a return performance for 2012.
For instance, fans of the modern-day Brazilian American Diva in Chicago are eagerly anticipating her debut at City Winery on September 14th and 15th (with Paulinho Garcia) after enjoying her Macy's Brazil show earlier this spring. And the Big Apple will welcome Bebel home (she was born there, after all) for shows on September 24th and October 8th, In between are stops in California, Seattle, and Vancouver BC. Paulinho Garcia brings Brazil Club fans up to date with his latest project - the 100th anniversary tribute to Brazilian pop songwriter, Noel Rosa. He writes: On December 11, 2010 we’ll be producing a concert honoring our “Poeta da Vila - Poet of the Vila”, Noel Rosa. The event will be at the International House of the University of Chicago. We will build the stage set to resemble a bar from the 1920’s Vila Isabel, all in wood. The musicians will perform seated around tables as in a typical Carioca bar scene. The repertoire will include a selection of the best works of Noel interpreted by the great names of Chicago’s Brazilian artists.
