Description

Cozy Toca do Vinicius calls itself a "cultural space and bossa nova salon", but in reality it’s Brazil’s most important shrine to the Bossa sound and fittingly, its located in the heart of Rio’s Zona Sul.

It’s only a short walk ‘round the corner and down the block from the “Garota de Ipanema Bar’ where Antonio Carlos Jobim and Vinicius de Moraes wrote Bossa Nova’s most famous anthem. Inside, the shop carries that same vibe – a genuine old school feel that captures your imagination.

Bossa nova fans from around the world have made this little store a ‘must do’ stop during their visits and you should do the same. Chances are that you leave with a new perspective on the music that put Rio on the map, along with a new CD or two.

Collectors will be happy to know that Toca now offers a nice selection of previously played vinyl records, too. And be sure to say ‘hi’ to owner Carlos Alberto Afonso if you get the chance.
